American political parties are essentially representative groups that are advocates for your personal beliefs. There are two major parties currently, Democratic and Republican which have won every election since 1852. Citizens are obliged to cast their votes for leaders that they feel closely resemble their desires for growing the company. The two party system is designed to make sure no one party gets too powerful and to help the country grow in the direction the populace wants.

It isn't perfect by any means but for governing such a large body it has been effective thus far, but could use improvement.

What did the progressives try to do and/or why were they needed?
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

They wanted to eliminate corruption and give voters more power which would make government more democratic and answerable to voters. (They did this through reforms such as initiative, referendum, and recall.)  And I’m pretty sure they were needed to be seeking to return control of the government to the people, to restore economic opportunities, and to correct the injustices in American life. An advocate for improving the lives of women and children.

Why has the picture of King George over the village inn been replaced by a picture of George Washington?
Sphinxa [80]

The reason why the picture of King George over the village inn has been replaced by a picture of George Washington is because the new owner of the village inn is General Washington.

The changes made in over the village inn are as follows:

The red coat was changed for one of blue and buff.

A sword was stuck in the hand instead of a scepter

The head was decorated with a cocked hat.

Underneath was painted in large characters, GENERAL WASHINGTON.

This was a period of economic development and wealth transfer in the United States when every American was a potential Andrew Ca
vovangra [49]

This period is known as the Gilded-Age, which followed Reconstruction and extended between 1865 and 1898, approximately. This was a period of unprecedented economic growth and also of social, political, technological, and cultural changes in the United States. A small but very powerful group of successful entrepreneurs - industrialists and financiers, for the most part - such as Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller, among others, turned the United States into the largest industrial nation in the world, and also into one of the most modern. These significantly wealthy entrepreneurs established an endless list of cultural and educational institutions, such as museums, colleges and opera houses.

The term Gilded Age was coined by writer Mark Twain.
