Why did peasants in ancient China suffer in wars no matter which side won

History
1 answer:
Tresset [83]4 years ago

Peasants generally suffer during the war. They produce food, which is then seized by soldiers (who believe they have the right to it) as soldiers themselves don't produce food. Also, as soldiers pass through villages, they often are violent and steal and destroy. In fact, some armies were very popular simply because they didn't do it!

Does the Monroe doctrine represent a continuation or change in president washingtons foreign policy
Leni [432]
In general, the Monroe Doctrine represent a change in President Washington's foreign policy, since the Monroe Doctrine dictated that the US would treat any further attempts by Europeans to colonize the Americas as acts of aggression, and Washington was far more isolationist.

The Cairo Conference of 1994 was a meeting of the United Nations to discuss the issue of _____.
chubhunter [2.5K]
The Cairo Conference of 1994 was a meeting of the United Nations to discuss the issue of overpopulation.

Otherwise known as the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the name essentially gives the explanation away. Other than just discussing overpopulation, they also talked about scholarships and preservation for women, birth control and family devising, and immigration. The central affair of the conference was overpopulation and abortion. While the current world population at that time was about 5.5 billion, they began concerned about the over-crowding and boost in abortion. <span />

saul85 [17]
After Odysseus and his men eat the lotus plant, it makes them forget things. One of the things that they forget is how they are longing for home. All they want to do is eat the lotus plant and stay there.  This is bad because Odysseus wants to get home to his wife and son. The people of the lotus plant are very friendly, but the intoxicating plant is dangerous because it makes them forget.
