Setting: The labs at a school

Protagonist: Sophie

Rising Action: Sophie's description of how the trip to the coral reefs had changed her perspective on environmental issues.

Conflict: No one believes her capable of doing anything about it.

Climax: She works tirelessly to develop the idea she believes will change everything, while ignoring those who do not believe in her, and presents her idea to the scientists.

Falling Action: Everyone applauds.

Resolution: The scientists all loved her approach and she was able to change their minds.

The main theme in "The Reefs" is that other people's perception of you should not dictate what you can and cannot do. In this text, Sophie is a girl who cares about the environment. However, no one takes her seriously. She tells us that people dismissed her in the following way: "“You are just a high school kid, Sophie,” they warned. “What makes you think you are capable of solving this crucial environmental issue? Stop wasting your time.” The professors would not give her laboratory time to complete research nor would they share their expertise with her." Nevertheless, she works very hard in her research and is eventually able to surprise them with how capable she is.

Fitzgerald spends a lot of "Winter Dreams" looking at Judy Jones. We get tons of descriptions of her physical appearance and her
Mrac [35]

This question requires a personal opinion as an answer about the story "Winter Dreams." The following is an example of an opinion about Judy's perspective:

If the story were told from Judy's perspective, the overall tone would probably change in the sense that we would see into a spoiled, shallow person's mind. However, it is possible that Fitzgerald could reveal some sort of longing or sadness that functions as a motivation behind Judy's selfish actions.

When it comes to Dexter, Judy would probably describe him by placing some importance on his appearance or on the fact that he is crazy about her. That is all she cares about. Judy is not seeking real love, and boys are just a pastime to her.

Who is Judy Jones?

Judy is a very wealthy girl who has never had to work hard to get anything she's ever wanted. She takes it life, love and happiness for granted. If she is beautiful and has money, then the only logical assumption she can make is that she deserves to be happy.

Judy becomes Dexter's obsession. The ambitious boy fancies himself in love with her when he is actually in love with the idea of her. The illusion is shattered when he hears that Judy is married, lives a loveless, miserable life, and is no longer pretty.
