9. 1) organism 2) population 3) community 4) ecosystem

Explanation:

Ecosystem Organism Biome Biosphere Abiotic Biotic Community Population

1. The living part of an environment is called its BIOTIC FACTOR. It comprises of plants, animals and microbes in the environment.

2. The collection of abiotic and biotic factors in an environment is referred to as an ECOSYSTEM. The ecosystem is the interaction of the biotic components with the abiotic components of the environment.

3. An ORGANISM is a single living thing that can breed/produce fertile offspring

4. A BIOME consists of an ecosystem with same climate and similar communities.

5. POLULATION in biology refers to individuals of the same species that live in the same area or habitat.

6. The BIOSPHERE refers to the earth with all the ecosystems in it.

7. A COMMUNITY is a group of different interacting populations that live together in an area.

8. ABIOTIC FACTORS are the nonliving part of the environment, consisting of land, soil, water etc

Which component of a homeostatic system compares sensory information to a target value?
Katen [24]

Answer:

Integrator compares sensory information to a target value.

Explanation:

 • Integrator is responsible for sending 'instructions to an effector' based on 'sensory information' which eventually give responses.
 • These effectors execute the necessary changes required to adjust with the environment. Integrator act as the control centers.
 • Integrators send signals to the effectors after comparing the variables or changes at a definite set point.
 • However, its function mechanism is 'dependent on the feedback loop'.

Why is the word translation used for protein production?
Elza [17]
During translation, a ribosome reads a sequence of mRNA (messenger RNA) in groups of 3 bases called codons. The ribosome then calls for a tRNA (transfer RNA) molecule with another group of 3 bases that correspond to the codon. This group of bases is called an anticodon. The ribosome strings the anticodons together to create an amino acid chain, and then final processing occurs to create the desired protein. In a way, the ribosome is translating the language the mRNA is using into a language that the tRNA can understand, hence why translation is used.
