Lady Capulet does not know that Juliet married Romeo and thinks that her daughter is crying solely for the death of her cousin. This is an example of dramatic irony, which occurs when the audience knows about something, but the characters don't. That's because while the audience knows the real reason Juliet is crying, her mother doesn't know.
