Edmund Spenser was an English poet. He was a prominent figure in Renaissance lyrics and sonnet poetry.

Spenser studied at Merchant Taylors' School in London and Pembroke College in Cambridge. From 1854 he lived in Ireland as a civil servant and estate owner.
