Answer: Choice C

Step-by-step explanation: The correct sum of 6 feet 10 inches and 8 feet 9 inches is 15ft 7 inches.

In order to calculate this, you will first add the inches.

10 inches plus 9 inches equals 19 inches, which is 1 ft 7 inches.

Next, add the feet - 6 ft plus 8 ft equals 14 ft.

To finish, 14 ft plus 1 ft 7 inches equals 15 ft 7 inches, which is choice c.

First: There are 12 inches in a foot.

Second: You can do it 2 ways.

One way you can do it is by converting them to inches and them turning them back to feet. (This is the longer way)

The second way is to add 6 feet and 8 feet and then add 9 and 10 and making sure there are no leftovers after turning it to geet and leftover inches.

I'm going to do way 2. 6 feet and 8 feet is 14 feet. 9 inches and 10 inches is 19 inches. 19 would be converted to 1 foot and 7 inches. Then we add 14 feet and 1 foot and 7 inches together. When we fo that we get 15 feet and 7 inches.

Your answer is 15 feet 7 inches. Hope this helps :)

Greeley [361]
First find the common denominator
5/8=25/40
2/5=16/40
3/4=30/40
Next you can cross multiply
25/40=x/10 pounds
16/40=x/10 pounds
30/40=x/10 pounds
First
25(10)/40= 6.25 pounds
16(10)/40= 4pounds
30(10)/40= 7.5 pounds
These are the amounts that were left in the bag

10-6.25=3.75
10-4=6
10-7.5=2.5

3.75+6+2.5= 12.25

All together they put 12.25 pounds of soil in the flower bed
