It served as an early model for unification of the colonies and was influential during the drafting of the Articles of Confederation.

Explanation:

In 1754, Benjamin Franklin presented the Albany Plan to the Albany Congress. It was a plan to create a common government for the 13 colonies, under the direction of a President General and a Council. The crown would appoint the president General and the colonies would send their delegates to the council.
