Notable among Georgia's contributions was the enlistment of no fewer than 320,000 Georgians in the US armed forces. In addition, numerous Georgians signed up for work in wartime industries like the Bell Aircraft Plant that produced B-29 bombers. 

Also, the services of Georgians was largely secured in the production of Liberty Ships at shipyards located in the Georgian cities of Savannah and Brunswick. The Liberty Ships were large and strong cargo ships that replaced weaker ships which were lost during the war.
