The conflict in this story in between two men, a prisoner and a guard, as they both steal what causes disagreement.

Explanation:

Brille catches the guard, Hannetjie stealing fertilizer that will use against him or manipulate him. Even though Brille is a prisoner, he has a moral attitude. When other prisoners are lacking food, he steals it for them. The main conflict in the story is that the prisoners want the freedom of eating, smoking and not working too much.
