How do the sources of income differ depending on where one is situated in the social class hierarchy?
irina1246 [14]

Answer: according to sociologist there are six social classes in America and those social classes can be classified as follows:

The Upper class which comprises only few of the Americans.

The upper class is further divided into 2 subclasses based on their salary per year.

The upper-upper class earns about hundreds of millions to billions of dollars per year

The lower-upper class earns about millions yearly .

Then comes the middle class which makes up almost 40% of the population according to sociologist, it also subdivided into upper-middle class who earns about 76,000 dollars or more annually and it is about 14%of the population out of the 40% of the middle class group.

Another subdivision from this class is the lower-middle class who makes up 26 %of the population from the 40% and they earn 46,000 to 75,000 dollars.

The other social class is the working class which makes up about (30%) of the American population who earns $19,000 to $45,000.

The lower class (27%) is divided into the working poor (13%, earning $9000 to $18,000) and the underclass (14%, earning under $9000).

This classification is based on economical factors excluding educational factors and types of status attached to individual's occupations
