Ok, so your first step would be to set up the equation. It would look like V=lwh. So now you substitute in the numbers. So now you would have 48=2*4*h. You want to isolate the variable, h, in order to solve the problem. So you do the inverse of multiplication which is division. You divide by 2 on both sides. So now your problem looks like 48/2=2/2*4*h. You finish dividing to get the final problem of 24=4*h. Now you would do the same division with the number 4. You would have 24/4=4/4*h. You finish dividing to get 6=h, and that is your answer. Have a good day!

23. The mean weight of trucks traveling on a particular section of 1-475 is not known. A state highway inspector needs an estima
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

0.3594 = 35.94% probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution.

Normal Probability Distribution:

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the z-score of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the p-value, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Mean is 15.8 tons, with a standard deviation of the sample of 4.2 tons.

This means that \mu = 15.8, \sigma = 4.2

What is probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons?

This is the pvalue of Z when X = 14.3. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{14.3 - 15.8}{4.2}

Z = -0.36

Z = -0.36 has a pvalue of 0.3594

0.3594 = 35.94% probability that a truck will weigh less than 14.3 tons
