It depends on the situation; for example, in an election popularity will get you farther, but on a quiz aptitude will. It all depends.

I believe aptitude depending on how far it can get you in life. But popularity could too if your talking about sharing videos online and getting a lot of views, or celebrity popularity. Popularity in school means nothing though.
