The narrator opens the General Prologue with a description of the return of spring. He describes the April rains, the burgeoning flowers and leaves, and the chirping birds. Around this time of year, the narrator says, people begin to feel the desire to go on a pilgrimage. Many devout English pilgrims set off to visit shrines in distant holy lands, but even more choose to travel to Canterbury to visit the relics of Saint Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral, where they thank the martyr for having helped them when they were in need. The narrator tells us that as he prepared to go on such a pilgrimage, staying at a tavern in Southwark called the Tabard Inn, a great company of twenty-nine travelers entered. The travelers were a diverse group who, like the narrator, were on their way to Canterbury. They happily agreed to let him join them. That night, the group slept at the Tabard, and woke up early the next morning to set off on their journey. Before continuing the tale, the narrator declares his intent to list and describe each of the members of the group.

URGENT!!!! How is Winston's life in the novel "1984" relate to the current coronavirus pandemic? I need at least 3 examples for
Akimi4 [234]
Similar to 1984, there are areas of the country with extreme poverty just like those of the moles(been 3 years since I read the novel forgive me if I mess up the social classes) other ways that relate to the pandemic is that resources are severely limited. Just as is shown in the novel those in the world are forced to ration. Those who are wealthy have more than enough to last them through the pandemic, just like politicians and celebrities have no worry of their supply of resources running out . And the final comparison could be that there is total surveillance in countries over their citizens just like Big Brother. Countries like South Korea doxed their citizens in order to prevent the spread , in a way the citizens in the novel are censored and fed a false narrative

Read the excerpt from Roosevelt's Executive Order No. 9066. I hereby further authorize and direct all Executive Departments, ind
rodikova [14]

Answer: Roosevelt uses objective language to emphasize his authority and garner support in the execution of the order.

Explanation:

Roosevelt doesn´t use any loaded language, such as insults or strongly emotional expressions, not to appeal to fear nor to appeal to emotions. His language is objective, centered on highlighting his authority, as well as that of the Secretary of War and the Military Commanders, and the terms of the Executive Order. His aim seems to call for support rather than present a logical argument for it. Therefore, his vocabulary should be considered as objective and aimed to emphasize his authority and get support for the execution of the order.
