An intertidal zone is called to the area where the ocean meets the land.

Intertidal zones exist at any part of the globe where the ocean meets the land. An intertidal zone is divided into four physical sections, each one possesses different characteristics. 

 spray zone: this is an area wet by ocean spray and drawn only by very high tides. 

high intertidal zone: floods are able to happen around this area during the peaks of daily high tides. It is not habited by sea life that can withstand big waves. 

middle intertidal zone: The tides diminish around this area and it is habited by a bigger variety of sea life.

Low intertidal zone: This area is always underwater but not during the lowest of spring tides. Life is more abundant here because water provides more protection.
