The goal of the New Deal, by Franklin Roosevelt, was to provide relief, recovery and reform. <u>Conservatives had always believed in a small government with low taxes and no handouts; government should NOT interfere in the economy and the market would fix itself. </u>However, the redistribution of wealth was part of the New Deal which was what the conservatives feared the most. <u>They believed that the New Deal would make the government too powerful. </u>
The New Deal has made the government more active thus, it has disadvantages. One of the these disadvantages is the complaint coming from the conservatives. They believe that the New Deal has made the government overly powerful.
