The purpose of the Quartering Act was to provide housing for British soldiers that were stationed in the American Colonies. The Act required that colonial households were forced to house soldiers if there was not adequate housing for them and the British authorities requested them to do this.

The quartering act stationed british soldiers in colonial houses this accomplished
two things from the british standpoint it was a cheap way to place more soldiers in the colonies and was a good way of putting a spy in every house of possible revolutionists.unfortunately for the british this fueled the thoughts of rebellion because soldiers were less than decent in particular with theduaghters of their unwilling hosts  <span />
