Answer:

communism

Explanation:

During the Cold War, the main concern of the United States was the communism. The main opponent and enemy of the United States, the Soviet Union, was the leading communist country in the world, and just as the United States were trying to spread capitalism and gain control of as much as possible of the world, the Soviet Union was doing the same by using the communism. This lead to constant tensions between the two superpowers for several decades, with things being very close on several occasions to escalate and create a new world war, which luckily didn't happened.

klemol [59]

The treatment of Japanese Americans was grotesque, we essentially replicated German concentration and internment camps but with different branding, all in the name of security. It maybe made some sense at the time but it was a racist endeavor nonetheless and assumed that all Japanese people or those of Japanese descent were somehow enemies of the country, which is a horrible thing to do. $20,000 is probably not enough because we're talking about entire families being ripped from their homes for "security reasons," resulting in mistreatment and abuse.

Explain 2–3 ways in which the Spanish-American War influenced the emergence of the United States as a world power.
aivan3 [116]

The Spanish-American war was an armed conflict between Spain and The United States that occurred in 1898

Explanation:

This conflict originated after the US Navy ship USS Maine was attacked, and American newspapers claimed that the Spanish were responsible. This lead to the US intervention in the Cuban War of Independence, and ended Spanish colonial rule in the Americas, and US acquisition of territories in the western Pacific and Latin America. Even though it was short lasting (10 weeks) and inexpensive, in both resources and human lifes, it marked a turning point for both countries. The US emerged from the war as a world power, with insular possessions in the Caribbean and the Pacific, including Hawaii.  It also helped to unite the people of the U.S., helping relieve the tension left after the American Civil War and redefined national identity. It also marked the U.S. entry to international affairs. Since after the conflict, the U.S. intervened in many conflicts around the world and entered many treaties and agreements. It gave way to the building of the Panama Canal, and also marked the growth of the U.S. Navy and Army.
