Why didn't the U.S. soldiers win the vietnam war

History
1 answer:
Step2247 [10]3 years ago

Simply put, they were fighting an unpopular war that was against an enemy we basically couldn't see. We were fighting an enemy who would hide among the Vietnamese civilians. Many of the soldiers we were fighting were untrained farmers, however the fact they would not come out as soldier made it harder to root them out. They also knew the land better than us so they had the terrain to their advantage. The Vietnamese were just guerilla fighters, who we had issues with fighting because we could never tell who was an enemy. Often times, civilians would die due to the choices of these fighters, causing the Vietnam war to be very unpopular back at home. So our soldiers who had no morale to boost them back at home, were fighting an invisible enemy and then coming back home and being booed fr what thy did.

What law was created in order to keep a balance of power between slave and free states in the union
GalinKa [24]
The Missouri Compromise was passed in 1820, and established the 36°30′ north line of latitude as the boundry - States south of this would be slave states, states north of it (With the exception of Missouri) would be free states.

This became problematic, however, as several issues came up, such as:

A) A movement to let the states decide for themselves, which turned out to be what was done and the Missouri Compromise was repealed in 1857, (it actually was ruled as Unconstitutional in Dred Scott vs Sandford)

B) California - It's in the middle and on both sides of the line, and it was admitted as a Free State in the Compromise of 1850, which, more or less repealed the Missouri Compromise as the rules it establishes were thrown out, a deal was made establishing California as a free state in return for a slave Texas and a stricter fugitive slave law.

Describe the differences between the Republican and Democratic positions on the issue of global warming
d1i1m1o1n [39]
In general, most Democrats today acknowledge that global warming exists and that it is man-made, and that something needs to be done about it. Republicans, on the other hand, mostly refused to believe that it is a man-made issue, despite tons of evidence to the contrary.  <span />
