<span>The skeletal muscles certainly help to maintain posture by supporting the skeleton and organs, they provide force for physical movement by driving extension and contraction of limbs and other body parts, and they help to regulate body temperature through their metabolic processes. They do not, however, directly protect the body from assault by pathogens.</span>
Dorsal roots contain axons that bring <u>sensory</u> information to the spinal cord and ventral roots contain axons that bring <u>motor</u> commands away from the spinal cord.
