Okita, Dwight. “Best Friends EO9066 Response.” U.S. National Park Service – Experience Your America. U.S Department of Interior. Web. 18 May 2011.

In this essay, written by Dwight Okita, it is clear that the narrator, a young 14 year-old girl, doesn’t realize what’s happening and that her family will be deported to relocation centers for being of Japanese descent. The cause of this was the current battling during World War II between U.S.A. and Japan. Clearly, Denise, who is white and the girl’s best friend, was probably told by an adult about the American vs. Japanese matters, and mistreats the girl for this “She was sitting on the other side of the room. “You’re trying to start a war,” she said, ´giving secrets away to the Enemy. Why can’t you keep your big mouth shut?´” The author clearly addresses the themes of discrimination towards the Japanese and the innocence of a child. This last theme is also a memorable characteristic of the text, since a child narrator gives the text innocence and some ignorance, all with a child’s perspective. Both the themes and titles make it clear “In Response to Executive Order 9066: All Americans of Japanese Descent Must Report to Relocation Centers” is useful when researching the topic of discrimination

Swift made an effort to challenge societal standards and overthrow the oppressive English government in "A Modest Proposal." Dreadful situations demand desperate measures to make one conscious. Satire is one of such techniques. There is no tolerance in satire.

The essay A Modest Proposal, which is disguised as an economic dissertation, suggests that Ireland's poverty be reduced by killing its underprivileged children and selling them to the English landowners as food.

Swift's proposal is a stinging indictment of England's illegal and economic abuse of Ireland. Its full title is A Modest Proposal for Making Children of Poor People Beneficial to the Public and Preventing Them from Being a Burden to Their Parents or the Country.

According to the text, what are the differences between the traditional form of slavery practiced in Africa and plantation slave
aleksley [76]

Answer:

The distinction between the traditional form of slavery practiced in Africa and plantation slavery practiced in the Americas was the way slaves were treated in these two dimensions.

Explanation:

"West African Society at the Point of European Contact" is an article from the collection of the US history website. In the article, the writer shares about the West African lifestyle and the prosperity enjoyed by people before the arrival of the Europeans.

The writer shares differences between the traditional form of slavery practiced in West Africa and the plantation slavery practiced in America. He states that the slavery practice in Africa had a long history. People who were captured after the end of the war were taken as slaves but they were treated as humans, eventually becoming a part of the family. The children of slaves were not considered property to be sold or bought. Many times some slaves gained high honors in the communities.

Conversely, plantation slavery was based on race. Slaves in the plantation slavery were treated inhumanly, inferior, and considered property rather than humans.
