The relationship between the US and the Soviet Union under Reagan was very antagonistic and Ronald Reagan was very anti-communist. However, there was somewhat of a thawing relationship when the Berlin Wall came down in late 1989.

Jews were expelled from a number of countries. While persecution varied by time and location it was often merciless. Thousands upon thousands were killed. People of persecuted faiths often had to practice in secret or flee.
