One of the themes of Denise Levertov's "In Thai Binh (Peace) Province" is that war-torn places can find peace.

Denise Levertov was an anti-war supporter and one of the famous poets in the 20th century. She wrote a number of poems during the Vietnam War including aspects of political development. The Vietnam War was an especially important focus of her poetry.

During the 1960s and 70s, Levertov became much more politically active in her life and work. As poetry editor for The Nation, she was able to support and publish the work of feminist and other leftist activist poets.

ANTONII [103]

The correct answer is “deductively”. The paragraph presented above is organized deductively, since <u>deductive reasoning</u> involves <em>generalization </em>at the initial stage and then moves on towards the specific case. The starting generalization in this case is that “<em>leisure is not to be spent in idleness</em>” and then the author makes specific references of what leisure is about. Among the four options, “<u><em>deductively</em></u>” is the correct one.

Read this passage from Alan Weisman's "The City Without Us":
Setler [38]

Answer:

The correct answer is D.

Working against the natural tendencies of the environment leads to long-term consequences.

Explanation:

In the first paragraph, the theme of green literature is evidenced when the writer references the damage to New York City's topography due to the need to build deep underground subways that double as bomb shelters.

In the second passage, the imagery used by the writer gives a clearer picture of the damage that was done to the environment.

In the first passage, the potential hazard arises because sewer lines have to be pumped uphill with subways below them.

If there is an earthquake, for instance, the entire structure comes crashing down.

In the second passage, the damage was already done, leaving Norwegians with the problem of how to create soils upon which plant fauna could thrive. Had they, managed the tree population by planting more than they were cutting, they probably would have avoided the "<em>green problem".</em>
