Gay rights movement started for equal rights and civil status of the gay community. 
There were now many AfricanAmerican governors in the America and they also ran for Presidential elections.

His attempt to establish a truly liberal Democratic Party to rescue the New Deal failed an end up in embarrassment and humiliation to him, loosing a great deal of support from the democratic party.
