The conflict is persistant because the israelies don't want the arabs alive - they want themeiminated because they have their own set of beliefs which totally don't agree with the israelies. So the arabs are now in danger, and their country has been bombed a lot, too.

Some of them were very vocal in saying that he seemed to lack leadership skills. His desire to be best at his position, with a powerful president at the forefront, made him frustrated.  The assignments & roles that President JFK gave him (e.g. being an ambassador-at-large where he traveled to represent the President in several functions) were not something he had in mind as Vice President.  </span>
