Rereading and paraphrasing a text can help readers understand difficult passages.

Rereading a passage helps in building fluency and helps the fluent reader to read with accuracy, expression, and speed. It becomes important to enhance reading skills and that to rethink about the message provided and observe the features which were ignored during initial readings.

Paraphrasing a passage helps in retention of the learning with many conscious thoughts. Paraphrasing further provides students with a deeper understanding of the text and make a connection with the previous knowledge.

In your journal, set up and complete a PATTR graphic organizer for "Reading" from Henry David Thoreau's Waldon.
STatiana [176]

Answer:

To begin, the purpose of the section is to describe human nature and how we as people interact with the world that we find ourselves in. As for the audience, it's truly all of us as a species. We have our differences, but Thoreau is under the impression there are some things we all have alike. The tone is rather formal, which sets up the theme of the piece quite well. Lastly, the rhetorical strategy used must be logos, since Thoreau is basing his argument off of human stimuli rather than emotions or credibility itself.
