How did the partition of charlemagne’s empire contribute to the emergence of feudalism
hjlf
Ok so I’m not certain that this is correct, but I think that when his empire broke up, the fragments of his empire were weak and vulnerable. This caused peasants (serfs) to ask knights for protection, which led to the emergence of feudalism. Feudalism is asking for protection from some people in exchange for loyalty from the peasants.
