Read the excerpt from Grendel. Thus I fled, ridiculous hairy creature torn apart by poetry—crawling, whimpering, streaming tears

, across the world like a two-headed beast, like mixed-up lamb and kid at the tail of a baffled, indifferent ewe—and I gnashed my teeth and clutched the sides of my head as if to heal the split, but I couldn’t. As upset and confused

Further Explanation:

Grendel is portrayed as the Captain of Evil in the poem Beowulf. This poem shows the different side of Grendel to the readers. Although the violent acts which are committed in both Beowulf and Grendel are said to be constant and heinous, If readers try to see the story from Grendel’s viewpoint, it helps readers to justify his actions. Viewers cannot blame Grendel alone for his actions towards humans. During the first encounter with man, He almost gets attacked and after the attack, he describes humans as the most dangerous than any other creature in the world.

In Beowulf, when Grendel gets killed, Most are relived. In Grendel, most of them are left mournful. Grendel is the only creature in Beowulf that is confused by the world around him and after he is portrayed as a villain, He does not appear to be as monstrous as he used to be.

Answer: C) As upset and confused.

Explanation: Characterization is a literary device that consists in highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. In the given excerpt from "Grendel", Grendel is characterized as upset and confused, we can know this because of the description of him crawling, whimpering, and streaming tears (which shows that he is really upset) and things like "mixed-up lamb" (which shows confusion).

When do you think It is unfair or deceptive to try to use emotions to persuade people
Rasek [7]
It depnds on your motivation. If it's for personal gain, that's called manipulation, and is extremely deceptive and unfair. But if your simply trying to appeal to someones emtions to get them to benefit a good cause, like showing them one of those videos of someone in the military coming home in order to persuade them to donate to a cause that helps veterans, I wouldn't really call that unfair or deceptive since they know exactly what you're trying to do. So it's deceptive and unfair when they don't know what you're tring to achieve and that you're trying to achieve anything.
