Drug misuse: The improper use of medicines either prescription or over-the-counter drugs Examples: Using drugs to Neglect responsibilities at school, work, or home (e.g. flunking classes, skipping work, neglecting your children).

Drug abuse: the intentional improper or unsafe use of a drug. Example drinking to forget about stuff.
