An event in my life, that has affected me, changed the way I view the world. This event happened during the summer, I had went to a local mosque, which is a building that resembles a church. that's when I faced a life or death situation.
my family and I went to the mosque that night, they were hosting an event.the seating area was set outside, and many people were already seated. a table in the back, was serving food, and that's were I met up with my friend. We ate, after we were finished eating we decided to go for a walk around the mosque. we talked and got caught up with each others lives.
I talked about this book I had been reading recently, called "They both die at the end". It's about an alternate universe where this company called "Death Cast" calls you the day you're going to die to inform you that you will die within the day. The main characters Rufus and Mateo got the same call on the same day, they met on an app and became friends. I was about to tell my friend how heartbreaking there deaths were, when we passed a group of seven and eight year olds, that were playing. One of the kids gave us a stress ball, we accepted them and walked away. my friend dropped her stress ball, my first reaction was to go after it and that is when everything went wrong.
Emotional intelligence is a new concept developed by Dr John Mayer and Dr Peter Salovey (1990) from American University. However, it was popularised by American Psychologist Daniel Goleman (1995). <span>Emotional intelligence is defined as “one’s ability to know, feel and judge emotions in cooperation with a person’s thinking process for behaving in a proper way, with ultimate realisation of happiness in him and in others”. </span><span>Like general intelligence, emotional intelligence is also developed in a person by birth. Normal development of emotion leads to healthy life, but too much variation in emotional level damages the individual’s life.</span>
The level of emotion in a person is called Emotional Quotient (EQ). This can be obtained by using emotional intelligence tests, same way as we assess the IQ of a person.
1. The Way to Rainy Mountain is the story of the Kiowa Tribe. The Kiowa tribe relied on hunting for sustenance. Their history says that they emerged from a log. Their existence is very spontaneous and natural. The tribe was also decimated by natural disasters. The tribe didn't last long. Thus, the human-nature relationship in this literary piece is that Humans cannot exist without nature. Nature decided the longevity of the tribe. Nature dictated who will survive to this day as with natural selection.
2. In the piece "How the World was Made" there is one central character, Maheo. Maheo is all powerful and was responsible for all creation. The human-nature relationship in this story is that of a creator and his creation. Here, Maheo created nature and decided their fate.
The two literary pieces are opposites when it comes the their relationship with nature. Both present great contrasts into how each tribe regarded nature.
