Civil War Summary

The Civil War was fought in 1861 after decades of tensions between the southern and northern states over slavery, westward expansion and state rights. The election of Abraham Lincoln as President, caused eleven states to secede from the Union beginning with South Carolina and form the Confederate States of America.

World War ll Summary

World War II was fought between the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) and the Allied Powers (Britain, United States, Soviet Union, France) caused by Treaty of Versailles, the worldwide economic depression, failure of appeasement, the rise of militarism in Germany and Japan, and the failure of the League of Nations. Most of the countries in the world were involved in some way. It was the deadliest war in all of human history with around 70 million people killed.
