Answer:

The other two sides are 40m and 50m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the sides be a , b and c

adding all together will give the perimeter

a + b + c = 120, now since one of the sides, let’s say a is 30

this means b + c = 120-a = 120-30 = 90

b + c = 90 •••••••••• (i)

We can use Heron’s formula to find the area of the triangle

Firstly, s = (a + b + c)/2 = 120/2 = 60

Using the formula;

A = √s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

We already have a as 30 and a as 60;

so we have;

600 = √60(60-30)(60-b)(60-c)

600 = √(60)(30)(60-b)(60-c)

Squaring both sides we have

360000 = 1800(60-b)(60-c)

divide both sides by 1800

200 = (60-b)(60-c) ••••(ii)

from the first equation we know that b + c = 90

so b = 90-c , we substitute this into ii

200 = (60-(90-c))(60-c)

200 = (60-90+c)(60-c)

200 = (c-30)(60-c)

200 = 60c-c^2-1800+30c

200 = -c^2 -1800 + 90c

we can rearrange this as;

c^2 -90c + 2000 = 0

c^2-50c-40c+ 2000 = 0

c(c-50)-40(c-50) = 0

(c-40)(c-50) = 0

Thus c = 40 or 50

Since sum of both b and c is 90

This means b also is also 40 or 50

from b = 90-40 or b = 90-50

So we can confidently say the other two sides are 40 m and 50 m

The total cost of an order of gift baskets includes the cost of each gift basket plus a one time delivery fee. The cost of each
Helen [10]

Answer:

x = cost of each gift basket = $14.5

y = one time delivery fee = $135

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x = cost of each gift basket

y = one time delivery fee

40x + y = 715 (1)

400x + y = 5935 (2)

Subtract (1) from (2)

400x - 40x = 5935 - 715

360x = 5220

x = 5220/360

x = 14.5

Substitute x = 14.5 into (1)

40x + y = 715 (1)

40(14.5) + y = 715

580 + y = 715

y = 715 - 580

y = 135

x = cost of each gift basket = $14.5

y = one time delivery fee = $135

Ayuda con esto tengo muchos deberes y nececito terminarlos ahora, por favor ayuda :( .María y Nancy son vecinas, y todas estas s
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

Nancy gastó 8,58 dólares.

Step-by-step explanation:

Para calcular cuánto dinero gastó Nancy, debemos hallar la relación entre Nancy y María, tal como sigue:

M = 3N    (1)

En donde M es por María y N por Nancy

En la relación de la equación (1) tenemos que el dinero que gastó María es 3 veces lo que gastó Nancy, tal como dice el enunciado.

Entonces, podemos hallar ahora cuánto gastó Nancy:

N = \frac{M}{3} = \frac{25,75}{3} = 8,58

Por lo tanto, Nancy gastó 8,58 dólares.

3. The ratio of the width to the length of a rectangle is 4:5. If the area of the rectangle is 500 square centimeters, what is t
Maurinko [17]

Answer:

           25 centimeters

Step-by-step explanation:

Ratio 4:5 means:

width: W = 4x

length: L = 5x

Area of rectangle:  A = W×L

Therefore:

              500 = 4x×5x

               500 = 20x²

               50 = 2x²

                x² = 25

                x = 5

W = 4×5 = 20 cm

L = 5×5 = 25 cm

A coach jogs 1.8 miles on Monday, 1.3 miles on Tuesday, and 1.2 miles on Wednesday. If the coach's friend jogs twice as far as t
Bond [772]

Answer:

Coach's friend jog 8.6 miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A coach jogs 1.8 miles on Monday, 1.3 miles on Tuesday, and 1.2 miles on Wednesday.

If the coach's friend jogs twice as far as the coach.

Now, to find the miles the coach's friend jog.

Coach jogs on Monday = 1.8 miles.

Coach jogs on Tuesday = 1.3 miles.

Coach jogs on Wednesday = 1.2 miles.

Total miles coach jog = 1.8+1.3+1.2=4.3\ miles.

As, coach's friend jogs twice as coach.

So, to get the miles coach's friend jogs multiply total miles coach jog by 2 we get:

Total\ miles\ coach\ jog\times 2

4.3\times 2\\\\=8.6\ miles.

Therefore, coach's friend jog 8.6 miles.
