The Foreshadowing is a literary device where the writer gives to the reader an advanced hint of what is coming to the story, the author uses it to create expectations in the public about what going to happen next, in this example the split of the three represented the future split between Jane and Rochester.
It seemed to be that these people don't connect very well and do't have the sam state of mind. This is causing issues and some friction in their relationship.
