The correct option is A.
The stock market crash of 1929 totally crippled the American economy. This is majorly because both individual and corporate investors had put their money in the stock market. When the stock market crashed all these people lose their money but the effect is more pronounced on the poor in the society. This is because most of the individual investors in the stock market borrowed money to buy those stocks. The stock market profits move to an unbelievable heights before it crashed down to the very ground.

Answer:

The reality the excerpt conveys is:

A. stock market crash.

Explanation:

The song "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime" relates several aspects of the Great Depression and all the suffering it caused. In this particular excerpt, the speaker talks of having built a tower made of "Brick, and rivet, and lime". The tower seems solid, trustworthy. Yet, "now it's done-". The tower refers to the stock market, which crashed in 1929 and condemned many seemingly rich people to poverty. Their wealth was not solid after all. The tower crumbled to the ground and they were left with nothing.

Answer:

The speaker's ancestors.

The speaker's curls.

Explanation:

Elizabeth Acevedo's poem "Hair" is a powerful poem that delves into the issue of self acceptance and identity. In this poem, the writer narrates how the hair became a piece of personal identity that sets the Latinas apart and how they are expected to try to be like normal people, meaning the white people.

In the given lines, the speaker reveals how they, the speaker and her ancestors, tried hard to find ways to "straighten" their curls and be more like the white people. She also strongly points out the fact that while her ancestors<em> "call[ed] them wild curls, [I] call them breathing"</em>, showing her acceptance of who she really is and letter her natural hair be as it is.

Thus, the "them" in the given lines refer to the ancestors as well as her curls.
