What did US intervention in the Middle East have in common with US intervention in Latin America?
Nana76 [90]

The options of the question are, A) Both interventions were the result of terrorist acts by Lebanon. B) Both interventions were about stopping the spread of Communism. C) Both interventions led to increased tensions with the USSR. D) Both interventions were about controlling worldwide oil supplies.

The correct answer is B) Both interventions were about stopping the spread of Communism.

The U.S. intervention in the Middle East and the U.S. intervention in Latin America had the common goal of stopping the spread of Communism.

President Dwight Eisenhower introduced the concept of the “domino principle” in 1954. He tried to explain the continual risk that the U.S. had if Communism spread throughout the world. He considered that if one country fell under the influence of Communist’s ideas, the probability was that the neighborhood countries would fall too, under the domino principle. That is why the U.S. intervention in the Middle East and the U.S. intervention in Latin America had the common goal of stopping the spread of Communism.

How did Constantinople respond to numerous invasion attempts before 1453?
salantis [7]
Constantinople fought and defeated all invasion attempts made before 1453, but these constant fighting made Constantinople very weak internally. Later in the year 1453, the Ottoman Turks were able to capture Constantinople because it had already become weak. The city was also weakened by the constant infighting of the people belonging to the religion of Christianity. They also neglected the Muslims of Jerusalem. So it can perfectly judged that there was not a single reason behind the falling of Constantinople, but there were several facrors that worked together resulting in the downfall of Constantinople.

What was the selective service system and how did it help the united states meet manpower needs
baherus [9]
The Selective Service System is a government agency that allows them to draft males into the military. Even though this started around World War I, it is still around today. This system involves a lottery system in which young males (usually between 18-25) are drafted (picked) to join the military. Once a young man turns 18, they complete a form so that if there is ever a need for another military draft, the US government will know how to contact the individual. Between World War I and World War II, this system helped to generate a huge amount of manpower, as millions of American men were forced into military service.
