Answer:

D. x= -4

Step-by-step explanation:

-8x × -4 = 32 + 4 = 36

you can subtract 4 from 36, which leaves you with -8x = 32. you then divide 32 by -8 to (1) cancel out -8 which will leave you with x, and (2) give you your answer. 32 / -8 = -4.

x is -4

DIA [1.3K]
Yes.

If you have a RIGHT triangle with a 29-degree angle in it, and you
divide the length of the leg adjacent to the angle by the length of the
hypotenuse, then it doesn't matter whether the triangle is drawn on
the head of a pin or on a piece of paper that reaches from the Earth
to the Moon, the quotient of (adjacent)/(hypotenuse) will always be
the same number ... about 0.875 .

That number is a property of every 29-degree angle, no matter the size
of the right triangle that it's in. It's called the cosine of 29 degrees.

If you were to divide the leg opposite the 29-degree angle (instead of
the adjacent leg) by the length of the hypotenuse, you'd get a different
number ... about 0.485 . That number is also a property of every 29-degree
angle, no matter the size of the triangle around it. That one is called
the sine of 29 degrees.

I just used 29 degrees as an example. Every angle has a sine and
a cosine, and a few other things too.

If you have an angle, there's no easy way to calculate its sine or its
cosine. You just have to look them up. They're in tables in books,
or on line (just put 'cosine 29' in Google), and if you have a calculator,
they're probably on your calculator too.

You don't know yet what these are good for, or what you can do with
them. That'll be coming up in math before you know it !

So the easiest answer to your question is:

Every angle has properties, characteristics, and aspects of its
personality that you never notice until you really get to know it.
They're called the sine, the cosine, the tangent, the cotangent,
the secant, and the cosecant. They're all numbers, and every
angle has a full set of them !

The diameter of the average cell in the human body is 1 x 10-5 meters. The diameter of a grain of sand is about 2 x 10-4 meters.
Dovator [93]
PART A:

Scientific notation is given in the form of A*10^n
Where A is a value in unit and n is an integer

0.000025 is not a unit number [the number before the decimal point is of zero value]

0.000025 = 2.5 ÷ 100,000

100,000 can be written as 10⁵

0.000025 = 2.5 ÷ 10⁵ ⇒ to write this in form of multiplication form, we change 10⁵ to 10⁻⁵

0.000025 = 2.5 × 10⁻⁵

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART B:

The diameter of a grain of sand ÷ the diameter of the average cell in the human body
= [2×10⁻⁴] ÷ [1×10⁻⁵]
= [2÷1] × [10⁻⁴×10⁻⁵]
= 2×10 ⁽⁻⁴ ⁻ ⁽⁻⁵⁾⁾ = 2 × 10¹
= 20

answer: 20 times bigger
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART C

Diameter of average cell in human body = 1 × 10⁻⁵ meter
1 meter = 1 × 10⁹ nanometer

1 × 10⁻⁵ meter = [1 × 10⁻⁵] × [1 × 10⁹] = 1 × 10⁽⁻⁵⁺⁹⁾ = 1 × 10⁴ = 10000 nanometer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART D

1 meter = 1 × 10⁹ nanometer
300 nanometer = 300 ÷ [1 × 10⁹] = [3×10²] ÷ [1×10⁹] = [3÷1] × [10²÷10⁷] = 3 × 10⁻⁵

Answer: 3 × 10⁻⁵ meter

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART E

Laws of exponents that are used in scientific notation is

x^m*x^n=x^{m+n}
\frac{x^m}{x^n}=x^{m-n}

Mailboxes Plus sends packages overnight for $5 plus $0.25 per ounce. United Packages charges $2 plus $0.35 per ounce. Me. Molina
Dennis_Churaev [7]

The package weighs 30 ounces.

Step-by-step explanation:

Mailbox Plus charges;

Charges per ounce = $0.25

Let,

x be the number of ounces.

M(x)=5+0.25x

United packges charges;

Charges per ounce = $0.35

U(x) = 2+0.35x

Cost will be same when the functions are equal;

M(x) = U(x)

5+0.25x=2+0.35x\\5-2=0.35x-0.25x\\3=0.10x\\0.10x=3\\

Dividing both sides by 0.10

\frac{0.10x}{0.10}=\frac{3}{0.10}\\x=30

The package weighs 30 ounces.
