The cold war began because Stalin and the West had differing views as to what to do with the capitulated nations, and the nations Germany had in its control.

The factors of the two superpowers (USSR and USA) they both had immense loads of money available, the most powerful militaries, and missiles... Loads of them.

The last question is ambiguous. I'm not so sure what to answer to that...

The one element of American society that changed this and allowed working class citizens to fight for better pay, safer working conditions, less hours, etc. was the development of labor unions. The creation of labor unions allowed for a massive organized front that would allow workers to stick together until their demands were met.
