The Electoral College system of voting.

Explanation:

The electoral college is an indirect method of voting in the United States whereby, a group of electors chosen by the states choose their President and Vice Presidents. The general ticket system occurs when the state casts a single vote for the electors with affiliation to parties for the candidates. The slate of electors with the highest number of votes now gather in December to vote for any of the candidates.

The electoral college system was established to allow for sufficient representation for each of the states. Till date, it has served the purpose. So I think it is an efficient method of selecting leaders.
