Why do our bodies rearrange the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe (O2) into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O)?

Answer:

A. in order to release the energy found in food.

Explanation:

Every cell in your body needs oxygen to function. You get the oxygen your cells need from the air you breathe. The air you breathe is made up of 20 percent oxygen. The rest of the air is mostly nitrogen (79%). Your body cells use the oxygen you breathe to get energy from the food you eat. This process is called cellular respiration. During cellular respiration the cell uses oxygen to break down sugar. Breaking down sugar produces the energy your body needs. This is very similar to wood burning in a fire. As the wood burns, it combines with oxygen and releases heat energy and carbon dioxide. When the cell uses oxygen to break down sugar, oxygen is used, carbon dioxide is produced, and energy is released. But instead of heat energy, much of the energy produced in cellular respiration is stored chemically for the cell to use later. Carbon dioxide is the waste product of cellular respiration that you breathe out each time you breathe. Blood picks up oxygen and releases carbon dioxide in the lungs. The opposite takes place in the cells where the blood releases oxygen and picks up carbon dioxide.

Sliva [168]

Answer:

Inappropriate activation of telomerase can result in cellular immortality, one of the cellular changes implicated in the development of cancer.

Explanation:

Some studies show that when telomerase activity is stimulated and a tumor suppressor gene (the p16INK4a gene) is inactivated, cellular immortalization occurs, which constitutes an important step towards the formation of a tumor.

Skin nerve impulses initiated in mechanoreceptors are transmitted along which type of fiber?
Anettt [7]

Skin nerve impulses initiated in mechanoreceptors are transmitted along type B fiber

What are mechanoreceptors ?

These detect mechanical deformation e.g. touch or pressure within the skin; stretch receptors in muscles. * mechanoreceptor cells answer a change in the external stimulus (pressure, temperature, etc) by producing voltage pulses across neurons (i.e. generator potentials)

Where are mechanoreceptors found?

Mechanoreceptors are sensory neurons or peripheral afferents located within joint capsular tissues, ligaments, tendons, muscle, and skin. Four primary sorts of afferent mechanoreceptors are commonly present in noncontractile capsular and ligamentous structures in human joints: types I, II, III, and IV

What sends impulses from the skin?

First-order neurons receive impulses from skin and proprioceptors and send them to the medulla spinalis . They then synapse with second-order neurons. Second-order neurons sleep in the dorsal horn and send impulses to the thalamus and cerebellum
