Write an equation of a parabola in standard form that has a vertex of (-3,-4) and passes through (1,4)

As we know vertex -

y=a(x+3)^2-4

Passes through (1,4). Substitute x = 1 and y = 4

4=a(1+3)^2-4\\4=a(4)^2-4\\4=16a-4\\4+4=16a\\16a=8\\a=\frac{8}{16}\\a=\frac{1}{2}

Therefore the vertex equation is y=\frac{1}{2}(x+3)^2-4

Since you want the "standard" form then..

y=\frac{1}{2}(x^2+6x+1)\\y=\frac{1}{2}x^2+3x+\frac{1}{2}

So the standard form is 1/2x^2 + 3x + 1/2

Andrew is showing his work in simplifying (−5.7 + 2.2) − 1.1.
Leviafan [203]
Answer: In step 1, Andrew used the commutative property

Explanation:
In step 1 he used commutative, which is a + b = b + a
(- 5.7 + 2.2) = 2.2 + (- 5.7)

Step 2, he used associative property, not the distributive.

Step 3, he just added5.7 + 1.1 = 6.8

Step 4, he distributed the negative sign:
- (6.8) = - 6.8

Write a two colon proof for each
Sladkaya [172]

We use the SSS congruence rule to prove the triangles to be congruent. From there, we then use CPCTC to show that angle I is congruent to angle L.

This is shown in the two column table (attached image below)

-----------

Notes:

SSS = side side side

CPCTC = corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent
