In 1864, The Battle of Fort Pillow, which is also refered to as the Fort Pillow massacre, occured during the civil war in America at Fort Pillow which was on River Mississippi in Tennessee.

This led to the death of about three hundred African American soldiers. Harper's Weekly account shows how the soldiers were being killed by the Confederates. Also, the weekly account included the numbers of wounded and dead.
