People often write articles for different reasons. The article on the shortcomings of the Progressive movement in terms of racial issues is written below.

<h3>The shortcomings of the Progressive movement</h3>

The Progressive Era was one that existed from the year 1900 to 1918. Ths kind of era was one where there was the movement to address social, economic and political problems as  sin the U.S.

The  reform in this era was one that did not handle the issues, problem or the plight of African Americans. One common example is that due to racism, African Americans were not allowed to attend school with other white students. Another is that African Americans cannot buy a house in a certain neighborhood, due to color of their skin.

The Progressive movement is one that is said to be different for immigrants and the minorities. The immigrants and minorities were said to have different kind and forms of racism.

They were said to be forced to replace their foods and customs with that of the Protestant practices and values. The way the issue can be handled is by law. Government should make law that cancel discrimination and segregation and also the public should be sensitized that everyone is equal and one should not discriminate.

Hoover did not handle the Bonus Army well.

The Bonus Army was a group of 43 thousand protestors - WWI veterans and their families - who gathered in Washington DC to demand payment for their service certificates.

President Hoover did not attempt to negotiate with the protestors, first, he ordered to have them removed from government’s property and later he ordered to the Army to clear the marcher’s campsite.

To do so, infantry and cavalry was used and additionally, six tanks.

Public opinion on Hoover’s actions was strong, newspapers and newsreels - that were popular at the time - showed images of the violence perpetrated on soldiers and their families. This was considered one of the strongest factors that influenced his lost at elections to Roosevelt.
