Hello. You did not present the scene to which this question refers, which makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, I will try to help you in the best possible way.

It is possible to realize that your question is about "Romeo and Juliet" and as you may already know, "Romeo and Juliet" is a story written by Shakespeare that presents the forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet who are in love with each other, but can't be together.

When reading the book, we can see that Romeo communicates with Juliet in a very lyrical way, full of feelings and that transmits a lot of passion and admiration. Romeo's language may seem very exaggerated, but it is written to show love and passion in its most intense forms. Juliet feels very touched by this language, because she also loves Romeo and wants him to understand this and that is why she also communicates with him in an exaggerated, romantic and sentimetal way.

My mother's voice was like a cool, dark room in summer peaceful, soothing, quiet
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

Simile

Explanation:

The definition of a simile is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid. The fact the author included the phrase "like" means it is a simile rather than a metaphor, and ultimately the language used enhances the characterization of the mother in such a manner that she comes across as a calming, stabilizing character
