One of the characteristics of the rococo style in furniture was lightness. These pieces of furniture were very light and full of movement in an asymmetrical design. The designs on these pieces of furniture were very elaborate and used a variety of different materials such as seashells, brass, marble, acanthus leaves, scrolls etc. all in a series of curved lines and carvings. They were meant to be very extravagant and excessive.
