Explanation:

In 1866, various ships make sightings of a particular sea monster and as the reports keep coming in, a team is sent to investigate the abnormality.

The team sets out to locate, identify and possibly destroy the "Sea monster", and after five months of fruitless search, the team finds and attacks the monster, after it destroys the rudder of the ship.

The crew is shocked to find that the "sea monster" is quite indeed a futuristic submarine. The crew are confused in what next to do since discovering that their quarry is not an animal, they are eventually captured the leader of the mysterious submarine named Captain Nemo.

Captain Nemo explains to the captured team that the submarine is ultra secret, unknown by anybody and because of its unknown existence, the team cannot be allowed to leave. They stay aboard the submarine and acclimatize themselves with oceanography. Some members of the team are enthralled and happy to stay, while some long to return to land.

When the submarine, return to the Atlantic Ocean, it discovers that a school of poulpes (octopus) attacked the vessel of the team, resulting in the death of one crewman.
