If a spacecraft was parked on Venus and needed to make a flight to Jupiter, how far would it need to travel? (Assume both planet
victus00 [196]
In miles 365 million miles or 365,000,000
in km, 588 million km or 588,000,000

so
scientific notation=(number less than 10 and greater than or equal to 1) times 10^n

so
we need to move the decimal point 8 spaces to the left
to compensiate for that, we multiply by 10⁸ which will move it 8 to the right
so

365,000,000 mi=3.65 times 10⁸ mi
588,000,000 km=5.88 times 10⁸ km

those are the distances in scientific notation

Does anyone know how to do this ??? <br> -view attachment

As soon as I read this, the words "law of cosines" popped
into my head.  I don't have a good intuitive feeling for the
law of cosines, but I went and looked it up (you probably
could have done that), and I found that it's exactly what
you need for this problem.

The "law of cosines" relates the lengths of the sides of any
triangle to the cosine of one of its angles ... just what we need,
since we know all the sides, and we want to find one of the angles.

To find angle-B, the law of cosines says

       b² = a² + c² - 2 a c cosine(B)

B  =  angle-B
b  =  the side opposite angle-B = 1.4
a, c = the other 2 sides = 1 and 1.9

                  (1.4)² = (1)² + (1.9)² - (2 x 1 x 1.9) cos(B)

                 1.96  =  (1) + (3.61)  -  (3.8) cos(B)

Add  3.8 cos(B)  from each side:

                 1.96 + 3.8 cos(B) = 4.61

Subtract  1.96  from each side:

                             3.8 cos(B) =  2.65

Divide each side by  3.8 :

                                  cos(B)  =  0.69737  (rounded)

Whipping out the
trusty calculator:
                                 B  = the angle whose cosine is 0.69737

                                      =  45.784° .

Now, for the first time, I'll take a deep breath, then hold it
while I look back at the question and see whether this is
anywhere near one of the choices ...

By gosh !  Choice 'B' is  45.8° !                    yay !
I'll bet that's it !

HELP ME PLEASE, I'D LIKE TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO THIS TOO SO I'LL GIVE BRAINLY FOR THE RIGHT ANSWER WITH GOOD AND UNDERSTANDING
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

34 goes in the blank.

Step-by-step explanation:

Triangle ABC is congruent to triangle TUV implies the following:

Angle A is congruent to angle T.

Angle B is congruent to angle U.

Angle C is congruent to angle V.

Side AB is congruent to side TU.

Side BC is congruent to side UV.

Side CA is congruent to side VT.

Note: Order tells you everything in a congruence statement.

Since side BC is congruent to UV, then the measure of side BC is equal to the measure of side UV.

8x+2=7x+6

Subtract 7x on both sides:

1x+2=6

x+2=6

Subtract 2 on both sides:

x=6-2

x=4

So if x=4, then the measure of side BC is 8x+2=8(4)+2=32+2=34.

So the measure of BC is 34 cm.

Find the zeros of quadratic polynomial X2 - 2x - 8
Gelneren [198K]

Answer:

The zeroes of a polynomial is the value of x when the polynomial is set to 0.

We can write x² - 2x - 8 = 0. This factors to (x - 4)(x + 2) = 0 and using Zero Product Property the solutions are x = 4, x = -2.
