The Montgomery boycott was initially started when Rosa Parks was arrested for sitting in the white section of the bus.

After the arrest, African Americans decided to boycott all city and school busses in a protest against segregation and segregated seating.

Yes and No it wasn't succesful because the americans figured out their plan before it was proven to be a problem.
