The rock texture with aligning parallel platy grains is to exhibit metamorphic foliation. Most metamorphic rocks have a platy or planar structure which is caused by the parallel alignment of micas and/or other flat mineral so this structure is called foliation. Metamorphic rocks can be foliated or non-foliated.
