The war began in April 12, 1861, it started because South soldiers fired at North Soldiers at Fort Sumter. Then, the war started..after a long 4 year battle. The North came out of victory, the biggest bloodiest battle was “Antietam” and “Gettysburg”.

There are 18 powers that congress have to use which are:

-Power to tax and spend for the general welfare and the common defense.

-Power to borrow money.

-To regulate commerce with states, other nations, and Native American tribes.

-Establish citizenship naturalization laws and bankruptcy laws

-Coin money

-Power to punish counterfeiters of money and stocks

-Power to establish post offices and roads

-Power to regulate patents and copyrights

-Power to establish lower courts from the Supreme Court

-Power to establish piracy laws of the sea

-To declare war

-Power to raise and support Army

-Provide and maintain the Navy

-Make rules for the Government and regulation of naval forces

-Power to call a militia (National Guard today)

The model is the politico model.

The three main types of representative models are delegate, trustee, and politico.

The delegate model of representation act only as a mouthpiece for the wishes of their constituency and make decisions only for the actual interest of their constituency.

In trustee model, representatives make their political decisions based on the common good which is not necessarily in line with what their constituency want. Trustee representative could make decisions on behalf of his people; but can forego their (constituency's) interest to favor national interest.

In politico model, legislators follow their own judgment until the public come calling about a particular matter. They are autonomous and independent of any constituency influence in making decisions.
