Who is serving on the jury for Tom Robinson's trial? Why is the makeup of the jury significant?

English
1 answer:
Annette [7]3 years ago
8 0

Answer:

Explanation:

The jury’s decision to convict Tom Robinson for a crime he clearly did not commit plagues Jem (and many readers) as an intolerable miscarriage of justice. The most obvious reason justice isn’t served is because the jury’s overwhelming racism prevents Tom from getting a fair trial. Another reason the jury finds Tom guilty is because both Mayella Ewell and her father, Bob, both perjured themselves on the stand. In addition to the presumption of an impartial jury, the justice system operates on the assumption that witnesses will tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” after being sworn in to testimony. But both Mayella and Bob lied rather than admit that Mayella tried to kiss Tom. Tom’s race, combined with the Ewells’ lies, proved enough for the racist jury to find Tom guilty, even in the face of overwhelming evidence of Tom’s innocence.

1. You can often tell what a word means by its _______ in a sentence.
frutty [35]

1. The answer is "A. context".

You can often tell what a word means by its "context" in a sentence.

When you are reading and go over a new word, you can regularly take a gander at the context to enable you to make sense of no less than a surmised definition for that word. Alternate words in whatever remains of the sentence or section impact and illuminate the new word and give its context. The context gives a setting to the word. Further, context signs help give importance and use to the word.

2. The answer is "A. In an appendix".

In a standard dictionary, you can find the key to pronunciation marks "in an appendix".

The pronunciations given speak to the standard complement of English as talked in the south of England (here and there called Received Pronunciation or RP), and the illustration words given in this key are to be comprehended as articulated in such discourse. Thus in a standard dictionary, you can find the key to pronunciation marks in the appendix of the dictionary.

3. The answer is "B. A novel ".

"A novel" would be most likely to have a list of chapter titles.

The structure of a novel is critical in light of the fact that it adds to the clearness and stream of your story. Chapter structure is fulfilling when the starting, improvement and end contribute similarly to the entirety. Chapter title and subtitle in this way give us a decent sign of what to expect – an account of an inverted relationship that leaves the hero marooned.

Organs are the structures that made up of two or more tissues organized to carry out a particular function. An organ or bone that appears in different animals with same function is called homologous structure. Homologous organs have similar origin n basic structure but perform different functions in different organisms. Analogous organs are different in basic structure but perform same functions. Different animals have bones that appear very similar in form or function and seem to be related. Examples The arm of a human, the wing of a bird or a bat, the leg of a dog and the flipper of a dolphin or whale are homologous structures. They are different and have a different purpose, but they are similar sharing common traits. The forelimbs of all mammals have the same basic bone structure. The structures are similar because they evolved to do the same job. For example, the wings of bats and birds.
